Hi, I am Afifa- practicing as a Counselling Psychologist in Bangalore, India. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Counseling Psychology and have completed MSc in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor’s in Psychology, Sociology and Economics.
I love nature, music, books, cricket as a sport and absolutely love the movie Troy! I firmly believe that learning, unlearning and relearning is the best way to evolve. Some of the values that are important to me are compassion, social justice, love, faith and feminism.
My goal is to help you live a healthy life by recognising the power you always have; I believe that at the core of mental health struggles is a sense of powerlessness. In my work, I help people deal with a range of mental health struggles like anxiety, stress, depression, grief, suicidal thoughts, relationship difficulties, self-doubt, self-esteem by providing them with a safe and a confidential space to understand and address their concerns by giving them the knowledge, skills and tools to live life to their full potential and lead a meaningful life.
In 2019, during my training, I was thinking about how each one of us have a responsibility and an amazing opportunity to educate our hearts and minds to nurture and protect ourselves but we don’t know what, where and how to begin- hence, Let’s Talk Healing happened- an online platform that makes information related to mental health accessible.
The aim of the platform is to share knowledge and personal learnings about mental health.
I believe that, in order to heal, care for oneself and care for the communities knowledge and awareness is the first step and therefore accessing information should not be a matter of privilege or simply confined to those who sign up for courses or to only those who seek therapy.
